The Eden Project

Location

Ideally located for exploring Cornwall, Mevagissey is located on the South Cornish coast at the end of a valley that includes The Lost Gardens of Heligan, a few minutes away by car. The Eden Project is just 8 miles from the village and the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth about 20 miles. By sea, the ferry to Fowey takes 40 minutes and runs several times a day from May to October.

Mevagissey epitomizes the picturesque Cornish fishing village and remains a working harbour with an unbroken tradition of boat building since 1745. Boats from here introduce visitors to the excitement of sea fishing – inshore for the mackerel, and in deeper water for shark and conger. Anglers may also enjoy free fishing from the harbour wall.

In the narrow streets leading from the harbour are many shops, pubs, restaurants, art galleries, craft workshops and the World of Model Railways Exhibition with its impressive collection of 2,000 models. On the quay side there is the Old Lifeboat Aquarium and the Mevagissey Folk Museum – not to be missed.
